Renowned gospel musician Loise Kim is the newest entrant in the Kiambu Women Rep contest.
Born Loise Njeri Githuku, the woman who has risen from grass to grace can now boast of having it all-by several Kenyan standards.
In addition to top of the range vehicles she drives, she also has an elegant mansion on Thika Road among other properties.
Kim started singing in chamas she was in where she ‘discovered’ her talent. Among her songs, the hit Munjiari was popularised by women groups during ‘kamweretho’, times when children were visiting and gifting their parents.
Her profile was elevated by other songs like Taranda, Queen, Ndingiuga Ndundathimite, Neti and Nathaniel among others.
Kim has tried her hand in a number of businesses including the chaotic matatu one which she abandoned in 2005. Her singing, however, is what put her on the pedestal. She is always busy performing as a ministry or for corporates promoting their products and services.
On family life, Kim says she and her husband divorced after seven months. Due to this, she did a song Wendo wa Kiambiriria which lifted the lid off her marriage can.
“I was bitter about my marriage when singing that song. We went our separate ways because we let the devil come between us. After he left, we used to exchange bitter words which made things worse,” she says.
The two have two adult children and Kim says she let go of everything and decided to live her life and for her ministry.
Kim hails from Wangige in Kikuyu and through her Loise Kim Foundation, she supports children’s homes and children with disabilities.
She has now put her hat in the ring to vie for the Kiambu Women Rep’s position come 2017.
Kim hopes to beat the incumbent Anne Nyokabi Gathecha-a relative to the Kenyattas, media personality Gathoni wa Muchomba and June Koinange among other.
