A girl from Makueni County who is ailing from plastic anaemia has penned down an emotional poem to First Lady Margaret Kenyatta.
In a video that has gone viral, Faith Mwende is pleading for help to get treatment of the disease that is slowly eating her up.
In her poem to the First Lady, Mwende says that the disease is causing her and her family sleepless nights.
"Mama Margaret Kenyatta Nisaidie, Plastic Anaemia Yanimaliza. (mum Margaret Kenyatta help me, plastic anaemia is killing me)", Mwende says in her poem.
The girl notes that she is growing fat not because of eating but because of the disease.
Nairobi County Governor Mike Sonko has since responded to the girl's emotional plea.
Sonko said that he has unsuccessfully tried to reach out to the girl.
"Someone sent this clip to me from 0722553479 but now not answering. So touching and willing to chip in as we wait for Her Excellency Mama wa taifa to come back from Zambia. May the Lord heal her," Governor Sonko posted on Sunday on his official Facebook page.
Plastic anaemia is a condition that occurs when the body stops producing enough new blood cells.
The disease can be treated by blood transfusion, stem cell transplant or bone marrow transplant.
