The two leaders were embroiled in Twitter spat on Saturday, with each of them raising corruption allegations touching on them separately.

Should they fail to record statements, Kabando added, the investigative agencies should consider summoning the two to shed light on the allegations.

"@Kenyajudiciary & parliament should stay independent of each other on matters #WarOnGraft. None should pretend try countermand the other! The RICH and POWERFUL get these institutions to fight. It's COMMON KNOWLEDGE that ELITE BIG MONEY POLITICS fuels #BBIReport will address," he tweeted.

"As responsible citizens, and senior state officers, @DrAlfredMutua @kipmurkomen should immediately report their allegations against each other to @EACCKenya @DCI_Kenya. Otherwise, they'd be summoned to record statements. Claims of massive corruption are of serious public interest," he added.

Murkomen had accused Dr Mutua, who is the Maendeleo Chap Chap leader, of engaging in various corruption deals.

And the Maendeleo Chap Chap leader alleged that he's been hearing that Murkomen also 'stole' Sh100 million meant for payment of maize farmers.

"As he digests my clarification, can @kipmurkomen clarify whether the rumours I have heard that he STOLE 100 million shillings in the recent maize scandal are true. If true, how much money has he & some of the fellas he hangs around with stolen from Kenyans? Siku za mwizi ni ngapi?" he questioned in a tweet.
