Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho on Thursday hosted the French Minister of State for Transport Jean-Baptiste Djebbari.
In a tweet, the French Embassy in Kenya said the two discussed bilateral cooperation in Mombasa.
The embassy also noted that Mombasa is the gateway of Kenya and a major transport hub.
They affirmed their commitment to partnering with Mombasa due to its strategic position in Kenya and Africa at large.

Mombasa County also took to Twitter to welcome Jean-Baptiste Djebbari.
They lauded the impact France have had in the region.
"Overtime, the people of Mombasa and France have had a supportive, productive and cordial relationship which has bore fruits in different sectors. Karibu Mombasa @Djebbari_JB cc: @HassanAliJoho #MombasaInvest," Mombasa County tweeted.
The visit comes after Governor Ali Hassan Joho hosted Ambassador of the Republic of Ireland, Fionnuala Quinlan, on Wednesday.
"Ireland and Kenya share a long history of friendship and co-operation. It was a pleasure to host H.E Fionnuala Quinlan, Ambassador of the Republic of Ireland, who paid me a courtesy in my office yesterday ~ @FionnualaQuinl2 @IrlEmbKenya @BIrlKe," Joho posted.
