Speaking during a fundraising ceremony at Gathiruini Secondary school on Friday in Kirinyaga, Matiang'i  said that there are many things that have changed since the two leaders agreed to work together for the sake of uniting Kenyans.

"Before the handshake, leaders could not travel to other counties for fear of being attacked. Now, we have leaders who have travelled from far and wide to attend this fundraising in Kirinyaga," Matiang'i opined.

He noted that before Uhuru and Raila's union, political temperatures were too high. He urged leaders to practice politics of tolerance and preach peace for the sake of the economic empowerment of the people they are serving.

The CS also noted that the implementation of the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) should not be used to preach messages of hatred and violence.

The CS also dismissed claims that he has been frustrating Deputy President William Ruto and his allies.

He noted that allegations that he is working with his PS Karanja Kibicho to frustrate DP Ruto are baseless warning leaders against spreading such propaganda.
