She says that the plot was being spearheaded by area lawmaker Alice Wahome, a critic of the president who on Thursday, told him off over an alleged plot to extend his tenure.

Speaking in Murang'a on Friday, she claimed that the MP is bitter after her alleged plots to have Uhuru heckled at former political detainee Charles Rubia's funeral service flopped.

“We know what had been planned but things did not go as planned and that’s why she is very bitter,” Chege, a staunch supporter of Uhuru, said on Friday.

She also bashed Wahome and other Mt Kenya lawmakers allied to Deputy President William Ruto of being unfair in their attacks on Uhuru, over alleged failure to deliver.

According to Chege, given that both Uhuru and Ruto are together at the helm of the government, the Ruto camp, alias Tangatanga, should also direct their attacks at the DP.

"We don’t have two governments and thus the leaders should not be attacking Uhuru alone,” she added.

At the function, Wahome accused Uhuru's government of using the police to infringe on the freedom of expression by harassing leaders from Mt Kenya region who are criticising him.

However, Uhuru rubbished claims but urged leaders to cease engaging in idle talk and only involve themselves in debates that can benefit Kenyans.
