At the MM Shah Primary School in Kisumu, 288 candidates are preparing for the exams, with the number having risen from 260 last year.

The school’s head teacher Joyce Florence Odero said preparations are going on well ahead of the exams, as they set their eyes on surpassing last year’s mean score.

“Last year we registered 260 pupils. Out of the 260 pupils, we managed to get a mean score of 328.3 which was not a mean achievement. The school did very well,” said the head teacher in an interview on Tuesday.

17 candidates got 400 marks and above in the school last year. According to the head teacher, teachers are going on with the task of preparing the candidates with an aim of posting better results this year.

“We have made sure that teachers have completed their syllabus, all the teachers have made the pupils revise and the children are now well prepared to shine in KCPE,” she added.

MM Shah is among the best performing public primary schools in Kisumu County.
