The court on Friday postponed the case by three weeks pending further investigations into the matter.

While delivering the ruling on the matter, trial judge, Jesse Njagi, said that he is under pressure from work, adding that the case could not be heard at that time until further notice.

Echesa, who was fired from the Sports docket under unclear circumstances, was arrested on May 17.

The arrest came after he gave into the demand from the County Police Commander to record a statement over the killings in the area. Echesa has asked the court to declare that his arrest was unlawful and abuse of criminal justice.

The politician was suspected to have been linked to the deaths either directly or indirectly. The attack occurred between March and May leaving 21 persons dead.

The government was compelled to deploy General Service Unit officers to the area to contain the whole situation.

Echesa has, however, maintained that he is innocent amid calls for his arrest from different quarters. The ruling of the case will be made on October 17.
