Medical services at Kangundo level four hospital have been paralysed after all it's workers went on strike on Monday.
The medical staff who have been complaining about deplorable conditions in the hospital claim that they have not received their salaries for quite a while now.
Patients remained in beds with no one to attend to them forcing their loved ones to transfer them to Machakos level five hospital.
"We have been suffering and whenever we present our grievances to the chief doctor we don't know whether he presents it the superintendent. We ran out of patience as this is the second month since we were last paid and that's why we have resolved to downing our tools," said the nurse.
According to one of the residents whose loved one lost their life yesterday after being admitted in the hospital for quite some time, the patients say they don't blame the nurses but the county government for not paying the workers.
"As Kangundo residents we elected a governor who has been out of the country for more than a month now and yet workers are here are not being paid and are working on unconducive environments. I would, therefore, like to urge Mutua to come back and save his people," said Pauline Muthama.
