Farmers from Uasin Gishu County have faulted the government over its intentions to slash budgetary allocation to agriculture.
The farmers took issue with Treasury Cabinet Secretary Henry Rotich’s decision to slash the allocation by 15 billion from Sh79 billion.
Cereals farmers in the North Rift region led by Kenya Farmers Association (KFA) directors on Tuesday termed it a major blow to the sector that is critical to the country.
“Many of our farmers rely on the funding. This will be a big blow to the sector that is the backbone of the economy,” said Kipkorir Menjo, KFA Director.
