Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto has been advised to re-think about his political direction before he is kicked out by voters in the 2017 elections.
Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen Thursday warned Ruto that the loss his candidate Paul Sang suffered at the hands of Jubilee's Aaron Cheruiyot in the Kericho senatorial by-election was a yellow card to him by Rift Valley residents and should he continue opposing Deputy President William Ruto, then he would be given marching orders by the electorate.
"I would like to advise Governor Ruto and his allies to come back home before it is too late. Otherwise they will only have themselves to blame when they are kicked out in the political cold by the electorate," Murkomen said.
The Senate deputy Majority Leader was also categorical that the Kericho mini-poll was proof that the DP was still a force to reckon with in the Rift Valley politics.
In the by-election, Sang who contested on a Kanu ticket and who was being backed by Governor Ruto, Baringo Senator Gideon Moi, MPs Alfred Keter (Nandi Hills), Johanna Ngeno (Emurua Dikirr), Oscar Sudi (Kapseret) and Knut secretary general Wilson Sossion was trounced decisively by Cheruiyot by more than 50,000 votes.
However, Kanu has since rejected the outcome saying the election was not free and fair.
Murkomen was speaking during a breakfast show on Radio Maisha.
