Just a day after protests that sparked ugly incidents between police and demonstrators, the opposition has hinted that it shall on Tuesday move to court to seek its intervention in the IEBC standoff.
The opposition on Monday said that since the government and the country's electoral organ seem to be in a collusion to rig the 2017 elections, they are convinced that a court action will compel the officers out of office thus paving the way for reconstitution of the electoral body.
Making the statement, the opposition, through Jakoyo Midiwo, who is the minority leader, said they will rely on the chicken gate scandal from UK officials, press revelations by the TNA party immediately before the rejection of Okoa Kenya signatures by IEBC and Public Accounts Committee findings regarding IEBC.
The case is expected to be filed in court by Juma and Company Advocates where the respondents are expected to be Issak Hassan, Yussuf Nzibo, and Albert Bwire among others. In addition, the opposition blames the IEBC of displaying open bias in favour of the ruling Jubilee coalition.
For the past three weeks, the opposition has been staging nationwide demonstrations against IEBC but the demos have so far been fruitless.
