West Mugirango MP James Gesami will be after all a one term governor should Nyamira residents elect him in the much anticipated 2017 polls.
Gesami, a two-term member of Parliament and ODM chair Nyamira County, is expected to wrestle with Governor John Nyagarama, former Kitutu Masaba MP Walter Nyambati, retired Judge David Onyancha among other contestants for the top county seat.
Gesami confirmed on Friday about his intention to be a one-term governor insisting that the term would allow him to do a total overhaul in terms of the economy in the South Nyanzan county.
“I have served as West Mugirango MP twice and a medic for a long time meaning that the issue of governance is at my fingertips. I only need your support for five years to change Nyamira for the better,” he said.
“You don’t need to be in office for several years to bring the much-needed chance. With the experience I have, I only need five years to set structures and exit for another person to take over. That is good governance and I beseech the people of Kitutu Masaba to back me,” added Gesami.
His statements could be backed by revelations by a source close to him that he was in the final stages to seal a MoU with outspoken Kitutu Masaba MP Timothy Bosire who is expected to replace him in 2022 should he win.
