Narok Senator Ledama Ole Kina has poked holes into the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) report and its suggestions.
In a tweet, Wednesday, the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) lawmaker faulted the report as seeking to introduce an imperial presidency, which he termed bad for the country.
He said that if implemented in its current state, the report will further divide the nation, noting that he will not support it at all.
"We maintain the Status quo for now! If we implement the report the way it is, we will devide kenya further ... there is no way I will support a report that creates an imperial presidency - no way (sic)!" Ole Kina tweeted.
This was in a reference to the BBI taskforce's suggestion that there be introduced a system where the president will have powers to appoint and fire a Prime Minister and the cabinet.
This comes as a change of heart from the vocal lawmaker, who only three days ago convened a meeting in Narok to prepare members of the Maasai community to welcome the report.
"So where are we heading as a country? Today I began a process of reaching out to every Maasai Community member in kenya to prepare them for what’s coming! Both on BBI, Revenue Share Formulae and land use policy! This business is subdividing agricultral land into plots must stop! (sic)" he had tweeted.
Ole Kina becomes the first ODM member to openly oppose the changes, which enjoy the full backing of the party leader and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
Odinga, who founded the BBI alongside President Uhuru Kenyatta in March last year, has since called upon Kenyans to keenly peruse through the document and air their views.
