Jubilee party candidate in the upcoming Kibra constituency by-election McDonald Mariga on Wednesday joined Deputy President William Ruto's wife Rachel Ruto for prayers and fasting ahead of the coming poll.
Through her official Twitter account, Mrs Ruto said the prayers were held at their Karen residence and wished Mariga well in the race scheduled for 7th November.
The DP's wife has been cautious in avoiding politics related debate and this was the first time that she was appearing in public with Mariga.
"Mcdonald Mariga visited us this Wednesday at the National Prayer Altar during our weekly Prayer and fasting fellowship. We joined together in prayer as we all wished him the best as he runs for the seat of member of parliament for Kibra constituency," she tweeted.
The prayers came at the time when the campaigns for the parliamentary seat continue to gain more momentum as aspirants try to woo Kibra residents to elect them.
The fierce campaigns have been characterized by chaos as Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) led by Raila Odinga, Jubilee led by DP Ruto and Musalia Mudavadi's ANC party who have been termed as frontrunners in the race continue to camp in the constituency.
Kibra parliamentary seat fell vacant in July after its immediate former legislator Ken Okoth succumbed to cancer.
