Kisii County Woman Representative Janet Ongéra has condemned the brutal attack of a woman who was allegedly attacked by her brother-in-law over a land dispute.
Ongéra while speaking on Monday at Kisii Teaching and Referral hospital where she had gone to visit Eunice Moraa Nyakwara said the attacker must be apprehended.
"On behalf of women leaders in Kisii County, I wish to condemn the brutal attack of Eunice Moraa Nyakwara. She is a Gender Based Violence survivor recuperating at Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital. Eunice's left hand was chopped off by her brother-in-law. We as women leaders call for immediate arrest of the perpetrator," she noted.
The vocal lawmaker allied to ODM party regretted the increasing number of Gender Based Violence cases in the county terming the cases disturbing.
She said a time has come for mutisectoral approaches to be instituted in dealing with the vice.
"I call upon the clergy and other partners of goodwill to come together and create lasting solutions to this scourge of Gender Based Violence. Men should also stop taking advantage of women to attack them. Everyone is protected by the law and police should arrest Moraa's attacker within 7 days," she added.
