Residents of Nyamira North sub county will have a cancer testing center set up in the region soon.
Naomi Nyagarama on Thursday said that a well-wisher had donated a building at Nyakemincha region in which a lobby group; County Queens which had pledged to donate equipment for cancer testing will use as offices.
“We will have a cancer testing centre in Nyamira North whereby we expect our people to use the facility for testing. A well-wisher from Nyakemincha has already donated a building where County Queens lobby group will set the equipment,” she said.
Mrs Nyagarama also urged local residents to eat indigenous foods to avoid falling victims to the deadly cancer disease.
“Cancer is a killer which has antagonised many people regardless of their age. We cannot just sit and watch our generation suffer from cancer,” she said.
“I would like to urge all residents to consume indigenous foods because they reduce the risk of contracting cancer. Let us get back to our roots by changing our diet,” she said.
She also urged women to fully utilise the mobile clinic which was donated by First Lady Margret Kenyatta late last year to control maternal deaths.
“I also wish to urge women to make use of the mobile clinic which was donated by First Lady. We do not want to hear cases of maternal deaths yet we have a clinic that can be accessed easily,” she said.
