Nakuru Governor Kinuthia Mbugua has comforted traders in Maai Mahiu whose businesses were destroyed by fire tragedy on Sunday.
The fire left 18 businesses worth millions in ashes.
Mbugua who visited the area on Thursday also condemned the opportunists who use such incidents to loot rather than give a helping hand.
"It hurts to see people loot other’s businesses instead of helping them save on the products to avoid losses. As a county, we will arrange to assist the affected businessmen and women with Sh100,000 each to help them in dealing with their loss and re-start their businesses," Mbugua said.
The Governor who was accompanied by Nakuru County Secretary Joseph Motari, CeC for Finance Ann Njenga, Maai Mahiu MCA Stephen Ng'ethe among other county officials also advised traders to go for insurance covers so that they can get compensated when such incidences occur.
"The best way to avoid heavy losses during such incidences is investing in insurance products for businesses that are now affordable and readily available for all," Mbugua further stated.
