Thika Town Constituency CDF Chairman Ephraim Njihia has spoken on the 2015 KCSE Results released on Thursday where it emerged that Kiambu was among the counties that registered more boys than girls who had sat for the Form Four national exam.

Njihia who spoke on phone, said that Thika sub-county on its part was doing all within its ability to ensure that as many girls as possible are enrolled and are able to complete high school education to the fourth Form.

"Thika CDF through the able patronage of our area MP Alice Ng'ang'a has been on the forefront to ensure that girls in this sub-county are able to pursue their high school education to the end. We are not going to relent on the efforts we have put so far to ensure that the number of girls sitting for KCSE in the sub-county in the near future is either equal to that of boys or even more," Njihia said.

Njihia said that one of the ways the sub-county was doing to promote high school education for girls was through financing existing girls' schools expand their infrastructures and be able to accommodate more girls. He also pointed out that they were also helping in the starting of new day girls' schools to accommodate those girls who fail to secure a place in boarding schools.

"Less than two years ago we wrote a cheque of Sh10 million and gave to St George's Girls Day School in Karibaribi which had been started by late MP George Thuo but somehow stalled along the way due to bad politics. The school is now admitting girl students. We are also helping finance schools like Kenyatta Girls Day School so that more girls can be admitted there," he added.

The Chairman further noted that the recently opened Thika Girls High School which was founded by area MP and funded through Thika Education Trust Fund (THETFU) has also started to enroll students. He said that it was just a matter of days before the statistics in as far as girls enrollment in high school education is concerned change for better.
