A section of Kibera residents have hailed the ongoing 10th World Trade Organisation Ministerial Conference at the Kenyatta Convention Centre in Nairobi County despite causing a few inconveniences in transport.

The residents who spoke to this writer on Thursday joined President Uhuru Kenyatta in thanking the heads of global trade body for bringing the summit to Kenya.

"I don’t understand much about WTO but I think it has put Kenya on another level. I hear Kenya is the first country in Africa to host this international event. This means Kenya is better than other countries. I think the summit will help us as Kenyans to be proud because we were preferred as the host nation," said Alex Mosakali.

Vincent Kyalo said the WTO will boost the economy of the country and now wants the summit extended for one more.

’’I watched the news on Wednesday stating that most of the hotels in the city centre are fully booked due to the summit. This is good because it has boosted the economy of the nation and hoteliers. I would urge the organisers to extend it for a week,’ said the joyful Kyalo.
