Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho has said that his government plans to plant a million tree seedlings in the next one year.
Speaking on Sunday at Dingirikani Primary School during the marking of the World Environment Day, Joho said that the move aims at creating a green and clean environment for the current and future generations.
“We aim at planting one million tree seedlings in the next one year to create a clean and green environment for us and the future generations," he said.
The governor thanked the initiative sponsors; Mombasa County Government, Kenya Forest Service, Safaricom and Bamburi Lafarge for making the day a success.
Joho led Mwakirunge residents in planting 5000 tree seedlings.
