Likoni MP Masoud Mwahima who was on Monday expelled from the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has said he does not fear by-elections.
The MP said he was elected by his constituents and not leaders sitting in their offices in the nation’s capital city.
He said he is confident of retaining his seat as he was given the power to lead by his people and not those fighting to bring him down before the end of his term in office.
Mwahima was responding to ODM's decision to expel members who had defected to other parties, as they seek to defend their seats in the next general polls.
Speaking during an interview with The Star, Mwahima said he has no doubt that his supporters in the constituency will re-elect him if ODM called for a by-election, adding that he was ready top battle it out with any candidate.
“I was voted to that parliamentary seat by my people whom I dine and drink with every day, not people sitting in offices in Nairobi,” he said, as quoted by The Star.
Other Coast politicians expelled from ODM include Kwale Governor Salim Mvurya, Kilifi North MP Gideon Mung’aro and Kwale woman representative Zainab Chidzuga.
