An Orange Telecom employee is in deep trouble after he was accused of obtaining a woman’s number from confidential documents.
The incident happened after the employee served the lady at one of the centres in Nairobi, and then later used some confidential documents which had her information (including phone number).
He later used the phone number to send her a Whatsapp message, which led to an unexpected reaction from the lady.
The lady, who felt aggrieved by the young man’s actions, reported the matter to Orange Company, accompanying screenshots of their conversation.
"@OrangeKenya your employees can take our personal numbers from our files and Whatsapp us? Late in the night? It's not right!" read her post on Orange's official twitter handle.
Kenyans on social media have weighed in heavily on the matter, with majority saying it was not worth it to report the matter, and more so to post it on social media.
It has raised questions on customer privacy, as well as to whether employees are allowed to behave in such a manner.
