Nairobi Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko is set to be arraigned and charged in court on Monday after spending three nights in police custody.
The Governor was arrested on Friday after a directive was issued out by the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) Noordin Haji.
He will be charged alongside 6 other suspects.
Sonko has n the recent two months been summoned on several occasions by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) over alleged involvement in a graft case of Sh357 million.
Reports from Citizen Digital indicate that the governor will be charged with abuse of office, aiding and abetting corruption, flouting procurement laws and resisting arrest among other charges.
Additional charges of assault were levelled against him by the Officer of the Inspector General of Police on Saturday.
Governor Sonko on the other hand through a statement issued out on Sunday evening claimed that he was a law-abiding citizen and urged his supporters to be peaceful on Monday when he will be presented in court.
"I am a law abiding citizen, and therefore ask my supporters to stay away from the courts or any other activities that may threaten the peace," Sonko's statement on Facebook read.
Four other officers from Web Tribe company who were also mentioned in the graft case surrendered to the police on Sunday.
