A section of Abagusii people living in Kibra endorsed footballer McDonald Mariga on Monday, vowing to to shift their allegiance from ODM.

Nominated Senator Millicent Omanga on Monday said the community has agreed to work with Mr Mariga, adding that she will continue meeting members of the community.

"I am happy that we have met many of you. The message is clear and simple. We wanted Mr Mariga and we shall ensure that he gets the support," she said.

Omanga added: "Those who thought that voting cannot shift here are misguided. We are going to ensure that we vote in numbers for him."

Mr Mariga said that once elected, he will ensure that education and small business entrepreneurs are given first priority in his administration.

"You will be my office once I am elected. I will be coming here and we support education together. We shall support businesses as a group so that we increase output."

The scramble for Abagusii votes is set to escalate with Dagoretti North MP Simba Arati expected to drum support for ODM candidate Imran Okoth.

Mr Arati, who is the self imposed Abagusii spokesman, was chosen to be among the team leading campaigns within Kibra constituency.
