Meroka challenged women to form groups in order to access Uwezo and Youth funds that have been established by the government.

Speaking at Kiangoi secondary grounds on Saturday in Nyamira South Sub County during a thanks giving day at the school, he asked women to work hard to create wealth to uplift the welfare of their families.

“I urge the county government to spearhead projects for women empowerment because when a woman is empowered the whole society is empowered,” he added.

He said KPLC will ensure that all learning institutions are connected to power before end of this year, adding that households within 600 metres radius from transformers will also benefit from the subsidised connection of Sh15,000.

On politics, he called on politicians to exercise sobriety and avoid name calling and maligning each other in public forums.

He urged women to ensure that they contest for big post in the coming general elections so that they can have a bigger voice.
