Kisii County Senator Chris Obure who also doubles as ODM Kisii branch chair led other area leaders in what they termed as the ‘Otamba Declaration’ in which they announced intentions to form a new party moments after Budalangi MP Ababu Namwamba resigned as the party’s Secretary General.

But Kitutu Masaba MP Timothy Bosire has associated the rebellion in the Opposition as a ‘creation of the Jubilee’ administration and insisted it was a sign of ‘sensing’ defeat by the government.

“There is no discomfort in the ODM party and whatever you are seeing is a creation of the Jubilee administration under President Uhuru Kenyatta,” he said during a rally at Kemera on Monday.

“He knows that the Opposition will constitute the next government and those are signs of sensing defeat in 2017. The government is busy funding a few leaders in opposition stronghold to create disharmony amongst us but we remain unshakable,” he added.

He dared the ODM rebels to resign from the party and seek re-election on the rival parties and challenged residents to voter them out in 2017 accusing them of safeguarding their selfish interests.

”They want to portray ODM as a bad party and when you interrogate them, it’s just selfishness. They are being used by the government to fuel a rebellion in the party and if they are genuine, as a party we are ready to receive resignation letters,” he said.

Among those who have shown intention of decamping are Obure, Kitutu Chache MP Richard Onyonka and Borabu MP Ben Momanyi.
