Kiambu Governor William Kabogo says he will not appear before the national assembly security committee over claims of sponsoring a militia to harass MPs and the local people.
The governor had been summoned to appear before the parliamentary committee, but now claims that going there will be a waste of time. He says some lawmakers from his county are keen to intimidate him using the parliamentary privilege.
“Kabogo is not one of those people you think you can intimidate easily,” Kabogo told reporters.
“You need a lot of effort and energy. I do not not have time to waste,” he said.
Speaking in Kiambu town after commissioning fire-fighting engines, the governor said the claims of being behind a militia were a non-issue.
Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung’wa sent a petition to the national assembly over the militia allegations. The lawmaker has been very critical of the governor’s administration.
