Kajiado South lawmaker Katoo ole Metito has been endorsed by a section of Maasai elders to succeed the late William Ntimama as the community spokesperson.
According to Shadrack Rotiken, the council of elders secretary, Metito has all it take to replace Ntimama who died two months ago.
"We have endorsed Metito as the community spokesman for Narok, Kajiado, Samburu and Laikipia counties," said Rotiken.
The elders who were speaking on Wednesday stated that Metito had shown confidence that he could become the next community kingpin.
"We did ground work from the family and community background and found that the MP was the best for the position,” added Rotiken.
The elders further stated that Metito's decision to leave the internal security docket for former CS Joseph Ole Lenku showed that he was selfless, a character that was needed to lead the community.
