Coalition for Reforms and Democracy leader Raila Odinga will be in Garissa today (Saturday).
The opposition chief will lead Cord MPs, Senators and Governors in marketing the coalition in the county the IEBC had in February targeted to register over 32,000 new voters.
Mr Odinga will leave Nairobi in the company of Cord Co-Principal Moses Wetangula, Senators Farah Maalim (Garissa), Johnston Muthama (Machakos) James Orengo (Siaya), Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho and Suna East MP Junet Mohamed.
Also expected to address the rally to be hosted in Garissa town is Wajir Governor Ahmed Abdullahi.
Garissa Governor Nadhif Jama, his deputy Abdikadir Adan, MPs Mohamed Dahiye (Dadaab), Shukran Hussei (Gure) and members of the Garissa County Assembly will receive Mr Odinga and his team.
"This Saturday, we will have a mega Cord rally in Garissa Township constituency and our Cord principals and parliamentarians are attending," Mr Maalim said on Friday in a statement.
"Welcome Cord brigade to Garissa Township, the home to resilient Kenyans."
The rally will be held in Garissa Township, Parliament Majority Leader Aden Duale's constituency.
Mr Duale, since the 2013 general election, has remained one of opposition's fiercest critics.
He is among Jubilee politicians constantly throwing jabs at Mr Odinga.
It is expected that Raila will use the meeting to criticise government over the proposed closure of Dadaab Refugee camp.
The over 600,000 refugees at the camp are members of the Somali community which inhabits Garissa County and in extension the North Eastern region.
Odinga and his team is also expected to use the rally to soften Jubilee's influence in the region following a recent visit by President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Uhuru during his visit two weeks ago launched several development projects in Garissa, Wajir and Mandera Counties.
