Deputy President William Ruto has been accused of not shielding his ‘people’ in the government from being axed.
In leaflets doing rounds in his Rift Valley backyard and online, Ruto has been accused of failing to safeguard the interests of the Kalenjin community.
The leaflets, in a propaganda conspiracy, accuse the DP of ‘sleeping’ in government after the community supported him to get to his rank in government.
Among those mentioned as having lost key positions in government is
former police IG David Kimaiyo, former Agriculture CS Felix Koskei, former Registrar of the Judiciary Gladys Boss Shollei, former director of the National Youth Service Kiplimo Rugut, former Supreme Court justice Philip Tunoi, former acting CEO of Kenya Airports Authority Yatich Kagungo, former Energy CS Davis Chirchir and former Kenya Pipeline Corporation CEO Charles Tanui.
The leaflets claim the area is continuously suffering despite ‘their man’ being the second most powerful in Kenya’s corridors of power.
Ruto’s allies have however dismissed the development as a smear campaign meant to ‘spoil’ for the DP as 2017 and 2022 politics are concerned.
“So many people have left government through various reasons and from all parts of the country. What is unsual about the 15? You cannot pick out some from a certain region and then seek to blame one leader," Nandi Senator Stephen Sang has been quoted saying.
