During a public function in Machakos on Sunday that was attended by Deputy President William Ruto, eight area MPs urged Kalonzo to change teams, saying he stands a better chance in Jubilee.

The leaders claimed that Kalonzo will be shortchanged and will never get the chance to vie for the presidency if he sticks with Cord.

However, Ruto steered clear of the calls, opting to sell their Jubilee Party to the locals, saying they were ready to serve all Kenyans irrespective of their political allegiance.

Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko was part of the leaders in attendance, together with MPs Victor Munyaka (Machakos Town), Kisoi Munyao (Mbooni), Vincent Musyoka (Mwala), Itwiku Mbai (Masinga), Regina Ndambuki (Kilome), Kanini Kega (Kieni) and Moses Kuria (Gatundu South).

“Kalonzo had a MoU with Raila to support him (Kalonzo) for the presidency but Raila has declared that he will again contest,” said Mr Mbai.
