Garissa Township Member of Parliament Aden Duale doubled down on his census message to his constituents on Sunday.
Speaking to resident at the Gen. Mohammed Eid Grounds, Garissa Town, Aden Duale, who also doubles up as the leader of Majority in the national assembly, emphasised the importance of the census.
He called on Garissa residents to show up in their numbers for the enumeration exercise that takes place once in every ten years.
"Joined Muslim faithful for Eid Ul Adha prayers at Gen. Mohammed Eid Grounds, Garissa Town. Urged Muslims faithful and the people of Northern Kenya to participate in the National Census slated for 24 - 31st August 2019. I wish all Muslims - Eid Mubarak, " he tweeted.
He said that the enumeration exercise was of vital significance as it would help the government in the allocation of resources.
"Census is important for the country policy makers to guide them on the development and resource allocation of the country, " he said in another tweet.
His call comes amid concerns that some residents might be left out of the census given the mobile nature of the pastoral life of the Somali community.
The Labour and Social Protection Cabinet Secretary Ukur Yattani said that preparations for the 2019 census were almost complete.
