Celebrations on Tuesday marked the opening of Mombasa's new Pride Inn Paradise Beach Resort Convention and Spa hotel, the first five star hotel in the city.
The hotel becomes the fourth of such kind along the coastal strip, the others being the Swahili Beach Hotel, Leopard Beach Hotel and Diani Reef Hotel, all in Diani, Kwale.
The other is the Medina Palms in Watamu in Kilifi county.
Managing Director Hasnain Noorani said that the successful elevation of the hotel is to thank on President Uhuru Kenyatta and Tourism Cabinet Secretary Najib Balala.
''We wish to salute the entire national and county governments for enabling business thrive by ensuring that there are support infrastructures in place like security ,road networks and telecommunication to mention a few,'' he said.
The function was presided over by Mombasa Tourism Executive Committee member Fawz Rashid who also lauded the hotel management for developing the hotel into a 5-Star.
He noted that since its establishment three years ago, the hotel has been of great importance, including introducing one hundred job openings.
"The opening of this hotel three years ago brought in 100 jobs to the local Mombasa community . We remain upbeat that with the latest star rankings , there will be more opportunities for qualified personnel to get employed," he said.
The CEC added that the county remains committed to promoting establishments vital for tourism.
