The much awaited examination results for last year’s candidates were announced earlier this morning by education CS, Fred Matiang’i.

In the announced results, KNEC nullified the results of 5, 101 candidates who did their KCSE exams last year due to alleged cheating.

According to Education Matiang’i, Nairobi, Makueni and Meru counties had the highest number of cheating. Matiang’i also said that all 46 counties were involved in exam cheating with the exception of Isiolo County.

The cases of exam cheating in 2015 rose to 75 per cent compared to 2014 examination results.

“I apologise to the public for the irregularities. We promise that it will not happen in this year’s examination. We will ensure that our students are not involved in this misconduct,” he said.

Last year’s KCSE examination papers were being spread through Whatsapp and other social media platforms, days before students sat for the examination.
