Nakuru Governor Kinuthia Mbugua has urged business people dealing with fuel products in the region to take caution to avoid tragedies that might cause loss of lives and properties.

Mbugua was speaking on Wednesday in Industrial Area, Nakuru after assessing a fire scene at a fuel go down. 

The county boss also added that fuel that is stored poses a huge risk to people's lives.

‘I call upon any person dealing with fuel, whether transporting, selling or storing to be very professional. Small leakage of fuel fumes can result in loss of lives and property which may cause regret and distress on the affected,’ Mbugua said.

Mbugua also took the opportunity to assured area residents of swift response by the county fire department in case of such accidents, adding that each sub-county will be provided fire engines to help in managing any fire outbreak in the regions.

"Our intention is to have at least one fire engine in each sub-county so that the response will be fast and effective. We lost one of the best fire engines last year in Salgaa which was unfortunate but that doesn’t mean we can’t help our people," Mbugua further added.

He also assured residents that his government will ensure the new law which provides for the availability of fire hydrants in al buildings is effected as soon as possible to help in handling fire outbreak with quick response.
