According to the outspoken and flamboyant governor, Garissa is the first county in the entire nation to adopt the new health records system.

Speaking at Hara in Ijara Sub-County while launching the new system, Jama said that this new system is a great milestone in the health sector and it will ease the delivery of services to the local residents.

He added that the system will make the process cheaper as well as personalized to address the needs of individual residents.

Jama pointed out that the health officers in the county will find it easy to monitor pharmaceuticals and non-pharmaceutical stocks in its 70 health facilities so that they can react to them adequately.

“We have now migrated from the days of patients having to carry a small book to the clinic or pay Sh50 for a patient card at a facility for them to be treated. Henceforth, a patient’s details and medical history will be captured in the system so that they can access any of our facilities,” said Jama.

The health automated system will also save the county millions of cash incurred in the monitoring and evaluation process.
