Speaking during an interview on KTN on Monday, Salat said that the claims are unfounded saying stating Kanu only supports the issues being raised by Cord over IEBC.

He stated that Kanu has not thought of joining opposition stating that the party is still a member of the ruling Jubilee government.

“Claims going round in some media outlets that Kanu plans to join Cord are not true,” he said, adding that the party is strategizing on 2017 elections.

On Monday, Salat joined Cord leaders in their protests to have IEBC commissioners sent home.

The Kanu secretary general said that IEBC cannot be trusted to conduct a fair general election.

“We joined Cord in the protests because we are of the opinion that the current IEBC cannot do a fair election,” he said.

The Kanu secretary general alleged that IEBC interfered with the results of the Kericho senatorial by-election conducted in March, a seat that was won by the Jubilee party.

According to political analysts, the move by Salat to join Cord in Monday’s protests is an indication that the party could work with the opposition in the 2017 polls.
