Ngilu said that Abonyo remains a ‘young handsome man’ who will attract women wherever he goes, but advised him to keep Joyce’s name for the remainder of his life.

Speaking during the memorial service for the fallen governor at the ACK All Saints Cathedral in Nairobi on Thursday, Ngilu reminded Edwin that there can never be another Joyce.

“Edwin, there can never be another Joyce. You still remain a young handsome man. They will be there (women) looking for you. Please keep Joyce’s name and take care of her children and her home,” Ngilu said as a section of people who attended the service including Edwin clapped.

Ngilu said that Edwin should take heart as he goes through the loss of his wife of many years. “Edwin you have been left by your friend and wife of many years. This is a gap you cannot fill. My prayer is that God will give you wisdom, knowledge and understanding to help you to bring up your sons that you have been left with the way Joyce and you had planned to do,” she said.

Laboso died on Monday aged 59 years after battling cancer. She will be buried in Koru, Kisumu County on Saturday.
