It is clear that President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM chief Raila Odinga are lobbying for a referendum that many believe is meant to give accommodation to poll losers.

DP Ruto’s camp is unsure whether the constitutional amendments will be favourable to them or not.

The reason why the DP’s camp is a bit jittery of the changes is that they feel their political nemesis, Raila, might capitalize on them to jeopardize Ruto's presidential ambitions.

With the cold war between DP Ruto and Raila escalating, it is a little bit tricky for the DP to unite with the ODM chief in the push for the referendum.

The DP has already hinted that he won’t advocate for constitution changes meant to only benefit a few people.

With majority of big politicians having already announced their support for a referendum, the DP is just yet to do that.

With a number of DP Ruto’s 'hitmen' already terming Raila as a person who wants to capitalize on the handshake to achieve selfish deeds, it is clear his camp is still unease over a referendum.
