The Ministry of Education and other stakeholders have been thinking of ways to handle the menace. Members of Parliament have now proposed sending spies in all secondary schools to control these cases with immediate effect.

The National Assembly Education Committee is pushing for the hiring of undercover officers in different schools across the country to monitor the activities of learners.

The suggestion comes after it emerged that teachers and other members of staff in most schools are always caught unaware when strikes happen in these institutions of learning.

The lawmakers have asked The National Intelligence Service (NIS) to take an active role in helping address the issue before it is too late

“The National Intelligence Service (NIS) should take an active role in gathering information in schools on student activities, especially that touching on security, and sharing the same with school authorities and advise on preventive measures to avert students unrest,” reads the report by the committee.

The lawmakers believe that the close working relationship between teachers and students could make it possible to curb the problem facing learners.

The suggestion has already started to elicit mixed reactions from different factions.
