Mavoko Sub-County residents have been urged to visit the Lukenya Hills park within the region, in a bid to promote domestic tourism.
Addressing this writer in Athi River Town on Wednesday, Mavoko MP Patrick Makau said the move would promote the region in terms of publicity thus giving it the great name it deserves.
Makau said the site which has several wild animals, if well taken care of, by both the national and county government, would generate a lot of revenue.
He said domestic tourism in the region would equally improve the region's economy alongside ensuring its development.
"Lukenya Hills has various species of wild animals but has been neglected for decades. It is high time the government gave it the recognition its deserves, for the benefit of the region," said Makau.
Makau said if the government intervened, infrastructure in the area would improve thus attracting investors.
He said if the economy improves, livelihoods of the residents would also improve thereby reducing poverty levels in the constituency.
Makau called on Kenyans from all over the country to equally consider visiting the area during this festive season.
