Residents of Murunyu in Nakuru have threatened to block all politicians in the area from using the Murunyu-KITI road due to its poor state.

The residents claimed that they intend to start repairing the road at their own cost after which they would stop any politician who lived in the area from accessing it.

They pointed out that despite current and former politicians living in the area, the road is full of potholes and often vehicles got stuck while accessing it.

“We have been talking as youth leaders and decided that the only way to help ourselves is to raise funds and repair the road especially since it has started raining heavily. It’s a shame that the county Speaker Susan Kihika, former Bahati MP Koigi Wa Mwere and MP Ngunjiri Kimani use the road daily but they have never felt the urge to repair the more than ten kilometres ,” Samuel Muturi said.

Muturi claimed that there were fears of the insecurity in the area due to the poor roads.

“Many people especially bodaboda operators have been attacked as they are forced to slow down on the potholes,” he added.

Grace Njeri pointed out that they had raised the issue with the county leadership on several occasions.

“The speaker even promised to repair the road," she added.

They were speaking to the press on Thursday where they pointed out that they intend to start construction work in the area early next week.
