Three top Kiambu County officials could lose their jobs after a motion seeking their suspension was tabled today in the county assembly.

The finance deputy executive, David Mathioya, budget officer, Fredrick Kimotho and the procurement and supplies officer, Stephen Mwai, are being accused of corruption, abuse of office and failure to account for development funds.

The motion was tabled today at the county assembly in Kiambu by Kikuyu MCA, Binary Wainaina, who insisted the officials were involved in corruption and misuse of public funds. The motion has support from both sides of the house with demands that sh80 million allocated for a bursary scheme and about sh150 million for water projects in all the wards be allocated for. In contention, is cash for drugs and hiring of medical staff.

Wainaina said that that a lot of public funds were going into people's account instead of being used to cater for the people of Kiambu. He said that millions could not be accounted for yet the officials were there and they knew where the money was.

''We have to deal with such officials if we need development. No matter how hard we work as MCAs, MPs and governors, we also need dedicated officials to deliver and not to benefit themselves,’’ said Wainaina.
