Arama who recently defected from ODM to Jubilee noted that he is still popular on the ground despite his defection from ODM.

"I am more than ready for a by-election because I know I am still popular on the ground," Arama said as quoted by the Standard.

The lawmaker refuted claims by ODM leader Raila Odinga that he (Arama) would lose in case elections were called, terming Raila's move as retrogressive to the space of democracy.

"Raila's move to call for a by-election will kill democracy. ODM has received members from other parties, for this reason therefore, I do not see the reason why ODM should threaten to expel rebel MPs," argued Arama.

"I will not honor summons to appear before the ODM disciplinary committee," he said.

This comes following a proposal by the ODM leadership to expel  from parliament all defecting  MPs until they get re-elected through a by-election.
