Nakuru East MP David Gikaria has promised to give Sh1,000 for every pregnant woman he finds.
Gikaria said the move seeks to encourage women to have more children to increase the constituency's population.
"There is a need for women in Nakuru town to continue getting pregnant to surpass the growing population of the other regions," Gikaria said.
The MP said his move is aimed at increasing the region's population so as to surpass the population of other regions such as in Western Kenya.
He also said the women carry “important people” some of whom may lead Kenya in future.
This is not the first time the legislator is giving money to pregnant women, after doing the same early this year in Ikolomani, where he had attended a peace tournament by Bunge FC.
