Nyamira Governor John Nyagarama will be keen to battle it out for the Orange Democratic Movement ticket contrary to reports linking to a last minute ditch to a different party.
Nyagarama is facing a fierce contest from ODM Nyamira branch chairman and West Mugirango MP James Gesami and retired Judge David Onyancha and initially, reports had linked him with a move to Wiper Democratic Party.
But on Monday morning on the Nyamira Politics WhatsApp group, Dan Onyancha, a communication officer in the office of the Governor insisted that the Nyamira County boss was in ODM to stay.
“Unlike some other aspirants, Nyagarama is a loyal and committed member of the party. We are sure of bagging the ODM ticket and that isn’t a secret. We don’t have competitors as it is perceived and only time will tell,” he said.
“We will not bow out and we are ready as always to battle out with those ready to challenge us. The Governor has implemented the ODM manifesto and nobody should cheat people that he won’t be given a ticket,” he added dispelling rumours that Kitutu Masaba MP Timothy Bosire is opposed to the Governor’s candidature.
On Sunday, Nyagarama joined the ODM party in Nyacheki ward by-elections where he drummed up support for Naphtali Onkoba.
