Kisii Senator Chris Obure has vehemently claimed that he ‘gave’ Governor James Ongwae the gubernatorial seat and would use similar tactics to win it back.
Obure who recently bowed out of ODM party pronounced his support to Jubilee Government and is expected to wrestle with the former Permanent Secretary Mr James Ongwae.
On Sunday, the veteran politician accused Ongwae administration of incompetence, favoritism, and nepotism and vowed to oust him from office in 2017.
“You don’t have to worry about Ongwae. I single-handedly campaigned for him and delivered the seat in 2013. This time, I will use the same methodology to oust him from office,” Obure said.
He added: “we cannot tolerate a government that condones corruption, nepotism, and general incompetence. He is good in PR yet when you go to grassroots, there is very little development despite the huge chunk of revenue we collect as a county.”
He defended his move from ODM saying that time had come for the community to work with the day’s government to spur growth.
“In advanced democracies, sometimes it’s difficult to see more development in our areas if we are not in Government. That is why I made that decision and it’s not negotiable,” said the former ally of Mr Raila Odinga.
