Kikuyu MCA Binary Wainaina has congratulated the Thogoto Arts Group for their efforts in preaching against alcoholism through their artistic talents. The group which was founded early last year in support of President Uhuru Kenyatta’s initiative of eradicating counterfeit liquor has engaged many youths in the area in various activities.

The group co- founder David Kimita said that they have registered more than ten members who were drug addicts and that they are currently making money using their skills and talents.

“We are encouraging more people with different talents to join the group and learn more about being self-employed,” he said.

Wainaina said that most of the youths in the area have realized their dreams and they are now responsible and sober unlike before. Kikuyu police Station boss said that reported cases of drunkard and disorderly have decreased as compared to the last year.

Church leaders and many parents are now calling upon youths to involve themselves into various youth projects so as to earn a living.

Martha Wairimu from Thogoto Shopping Centre said that her two sons have really improved and that are good examples to the others.

Wairimu, the area women representative has urged the County government to fund such groups which have value for youths’ lives and not malicious reasons.
