Okudo, who was initially at the Ministry of Wildlife and Tourism, has come at a pivotal time when Kenyan athletes are preparing to take part in Tokyo Olympic games scheduled between July 24 and August 9, 2020.

The committee's acting Secretary General Francis Mutuku has expressed his hopes of the continuity of a good relationship between NOCK and the Ministry of Sports even as Okudo takes charge as the PS.

“Even with the changes, we are looking forward to continue working with the ministry during the qualifying phase. We want to churn out the road-map towards staging a successful campaign for Team Kenya at the Olympics,” Mutuku said in a statement

Mutuku added that they are committed to ensure that the athletes train well so that they can post impressive results at the major Olympic games.

The NOCK Ag Secretary-General commended the former Sports PS Kirimi Kaberia who was shifted to the Ministry of Mining for ensuring three teams (rugby men, rugby women and volleyball women) qualify for major games during his tenure.

“Kaberia has provided government support in putting together Team Kenya for Tokyo 2020. We congratulate him on his appointment as the Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Mining and wish him all the best," reads part of Mutuku's statement.
